Report: Ex-NFL player faces charges for writing slurs on wall at his business

Former NFL player Edawn Coughman is in trouble with the law in Georgia.

Coughman, who was a practice squad member of numerous teams from 2012-2016 for teams, including the Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals, is accused of destroying his business and writing racial slurs on the walls in an attempt to make it look like a burglary, police told WSBTV.

Police went to Create and Bake Restaurant and Coughman’s Creamery on Wednesday in Georgia and found slurs and found graffiti including “racially motivated” words, swastikas and “MAGA” spray-painted on the walls, among other damage.

The next day, Coughman, a former defensive lineman, was arrested. Coughman is facing three charges including insurance fraud, making a false report and a tag violation for taking his plate off. He bonded out of jail.

A reporter for WSB went to the business and through its windows saw flat-screen televisions were ripped off the walls and slurs were still spray-painted on the walls.

Per WSB:

Cpl. Michele Pihera, with the Gwinnett County Police, said a shopping plaza maintenance worker saw someone burglarizing the restaurant around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and called police. Some officers were already in the area and spotted a black truck without a license plate on it.

Police pulled the truck over thinking it could be a possible burglary suspect. Coughman was driving. Police searched the back of Coughman’s truck, they found several flat-screen TVs that looked a little suspicious.

Coughman’s had had black spray paint on them, according to authorities. Police then learned he’d already contacted his insurance company.
