Former Lions TE Levine Toilolo will sign a free agent contract with the San Francisco 49ers, according to numerous reports from both local Bay Area and national media.
The Lions top receiving tight end in 2018 passed his physical and will now join his third NFC team in as many years. Toilolo caught 21 passes for the Lions last season, with 15 of those coming in the final five weeks.
Detroit made no apparent effort to bring back Toilolo, instead focusing on outside talents to replenish the barren TE position.
He spent the first five seasons of his NFL career as a blocking specialist for the Atlanta Falcons. Toilolo, 27, knows the Bay Area well from his college days at nearby Stanford.
