Report: Ex-Giant Jason Pierre-Paul suffered fractured neck in car accident

Former New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, could miss the entire 2019 season after suffering a fractured neck in a single-vehicle wreck Thursday.

Pierre-Paul was rushed to the hospital after crashing his SUV in Broward County, Florida, but was reported to have left the hospital shortly thereafter.

A TMZ Sports report later stated that JPP was “doing fine,” but ESPN’s Adam Schefter now says that’s not the case.

After the crash, Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said Pierre-Paul would undergo further medical testing.

“We have been informed that Jason was involved in a one-car accident early this morning in South Florida in which he was not cited,” Licht said in a statement. “We know that he was evaluated at a local hospital and has since been released.

“Our immediate concern is for the safety and well-being of Jason and his passenger. We have been in contact with Jason and will be getting him further evaluated by our medical staff in the near future.”

In 2015, Pierre-Paul lost his right index finger and a portion of two other fingers during a July 4 fireworks accident. He had to undergo numerous surgeries but managed to miraculously return that season, appearing in eight games for Big Blue. He was traded to Tampa Bay last offseason.

The Giants community obviously wishes Pierre-Paul good luck in his latest recovery.
