Report: Ex-Chargers DT Corey Liuget to visit Cardinals

Former Chargers defensive tackle Corey Liuget is taking a visit to the Cardinals, per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Arizona released Darius Philon, who was another former Charger, after being arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. So the decision to bring in Liuget for a visit makes sense considering how slim they are at the position.

Liuget has also visited the Jaguars, Seahawks and Giants over the course of the offseason.

Los Angeles elected to not pick up Liuget’s option after finishing the 2018 season on injured reserve with a torn quad. Prior to the season-ending injury, Liuget was suspended for the first four games of the year for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Both of those likely were big factors into the decision to not bring him back for another season.

Liuget, the team’s 2011 first-round selection, was a starter throughout his eight years with the Bolts. He posted 274 tackles, 24 sacks and six forced fumbles over his career.
