Report: Ex-Broncos punter Marquette King drawing interest from at least two teams

Marquette King had a bumpy ride during his time in Denver.

After signing a three-year, $7 million contract with the Broncos last April, King spent the first four games of the season as the team’s starter, turning in inconsistent performances.

King then suffered a thigh injury and Denver replaced him with Colby Wadman, a former pizza delivery driver. The Broncos placed King on injured reserve before releasing him with an injury settlement.

King’s injury happened in October and he was released in November. He’s been a free agent since then. The 30-year-old punter has drawn interest from at least two teams this offseason, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

King has averaged 46.7 yards per punt in his career, with a net average of 41.1 yards. His best season came in 2013 when he averaged 48.9 yards per punt. He averaged 44.1 yards per punt with Denver last year.

Before signing with the Broncos, King spent the first five years of his career with the Raiders. He earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2016.
