Report: Eagles to sign former AAF QB Luis Perez to deal

With the AAF folding and shutting down their operations, some of the league’s better players are getting shots with NFL clubs. Per Adam Caplan, Birmingham quarterback Luis Perez is one of them, as he will sign a one-year deal in Philly.

Perez worked out for the Eagles recently after putting up inconsistent numbers in the AAF. Perez completed 135 of 258 passes (52.3%) for 1460 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions in eight games. Perez somehow impressed NFL scouts after the AAF’s first week of games, and the momentum built from there. Perez has good size at 6’3, 222, great touch and accuracy and at worst, can be a camp arm while pushing Nate Sudfeld.

Perez played college football at Texas A&M-Commerce from 2016–2017. Before that, he played junior college football at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California. He was awarded the Harlon Hill Trophy in 2017 as the best football player in NCAA Division II.

Here are some highlights of Perez in Birmingham, per Austin Silvey
