Report: Eagles sign ex-Giants QB Kyle Lauletta to practice squad

The New York Giants made a surprising decision when they opted to part ways with second-year quarterback Kyle Lauletta on Saturday, and now they might pay for it.

After going unclaimed on waivers, Lauletta became an unrestricted free agent at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon and it took just seven minutes for him to find a new home.

Lauletta will remain in the NFC East having been signed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad.

After making the decision to keep veteran Alex Tanney over Lauletta on Saturday, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur explained his decision.

“I said it last week, it’s a credit to Kyle the way he came in here every day and worked to get better and competed after we drafted Daniel (Jones),” Shurmur said, via Giants.com. “Not every guy would respond that way, and Kyle improved as a result. So there was a lot to consider in that decision, but ultimately we decided to go with Tanney.”

Philadelphia is a strong place for Lauletta to land, albeit not exactly what the Giants had hoped for — especially considering he can now share some offensive secrets with New York’s divisional rivals.

Meanwhile, outside linebacker Avery Moss was claimed by the Miami Dolphins.
