Report: Eagles hoping to work-out contract extension for Halapoulivaati Vaitai

The Philadelphia Eagles announced a three-year contract extension with guard Isaac Seumalo that will extend through the 2022 season. According to Jeff McLane of Philly.com, the Eagles are also hoping to work on an extension for backup offensive tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai as well.

Jason Peter’s backup at left tackle has one year remaining on his deal, that will pay a base salary of $2.025 million this season. Vaitai was drafted by Philadelphia in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft out of TCU.

Vaitai made one start last season, but he played all 16 games.

During the 2017 season, he filled in for injured left tackle Jason Peters in Week 7 against the Washington Redskins and would start the remainder of the season, culminating with a Super Bowl win over the Patriots.
