Report: Eagles free up $8M in cap space with Lane Johnson’s contract restructure

The initial numbers on some of the Eagles contract re-workings are starting to trickle in and it appears that Lane Johnson is not only a great right tackle but an unselfish teammate as well. By restructuring Johnson’s contract, the Philadelphia Eagles freed up almost $10 million in salary cap space, according to Field Yates of ESPN.com.

The Eagles converted much of Johnson’s 2019 base salary to signing bonus, with Johnson’s salary for 2019 now set to be $805,000. Jason Kelce’s new deal also relieved some pressure, as he helped create $4 million in cap space, giving the Eagles an additional $12 million to work with in free agency right now.
