Report: Eagles shopping Michael Bennett in trade talks

Despite having one of the best seasons of his career after being traded to Philadelphia by the Seahawks, Michael Bennett could be on the move again if the price is right. According to Geoff Mosher, the Eagles had conversations with multiple teams about Bennett at the NFL Combine, and the veteran defensive end could be moved.

Per Mosher:

According to multiple NFL sources, the Eagles spent time last week in Indianapolis discussing potential trades involving defensive lineman Michael Bennett and gauging the 10-year veteran’s market value.

The Eagles acquired the versatile, veteran lineman in a trade with Seattle last year. Playing both the edge and inside, the 33-year-old’s 9 sacks were second-most of his career and second-most on the defense. The team also charted him for 50 combined pressures and quarterback hits, also second-most.

With the 2019 NFL Draft being a historic one for pass rushers and defensive lineman, Howie Roseman and company could choose to move on from Bennett, while getting younger along the defensive front. The Eagles would save $7.2 million in cap space by moving on from Bennett and could save another $5 million if they released Chris Long or the veteran retires.
