While much of the D.C. sporting world is focused on the Washington Football Team’s first playoff game since 2015, some news came out on Saturday morning that might be of some note to WFT fans.
Former Washington first-round pick Dwayne Haskins is expected to travel to Carolina on Sunday night to visit the Panthers on a prospective free-agent visit, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport says that should the Panthers end up signing Haskins, they will likely only pay him the minimum salary.
There is uncertainty for the Panthers heading into the 2021 season at quarterback, with Teddy Bridgewater being pulled in his last start and head coach Matt Rhule saying Bridgewater must have a “tremendous offseason.”
There is some doubt that Haskins can become a starting QB in the NFL no matter where he ends up, judging by his recent performances in Washington. However, with some time to learn the system and better development, Haskins does have the talent to potentially be a solid starter somewhere down the road.
