Report: Drew Brees to start for the Saints in Week 15 vs. Chiefs

The New Orleans Saints will start Drew Brees at quarterback for Week 15’s game with the Kansas City Chiefs, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Brees was designated to return from injured reserve on Wednesday, and while he has yet to practice during Friday’s training session, his body appears to have healed up well enough for action in this pivotal matchup.

Brees suffered a punctured lung and 11 fractured ribs in Nov. 15’s contest with the San Francisco 49ers, and was initially replaced by backup quarterback Jameis Winston. But the Saints named Taysom Hill the starter in his stead after a full week of practice, and Hill ended up achieving a 3-1 record for New Orleans while throwing for 834 yards, with a 4-to-2 touchdown passes to interceptions ratio. Hill also added 209 rushing yards and scored 4 touchdown runs, though his 6 fumbles were concerning.

But the Saints will be fielding their best option at defeating Patrick Mahomes and the world-champion Chiefs with Brees back in the lineup. Stay tuned for updates on the Friday injury report for official word on who will be suiting up for this one.
