Report: Draymond Green had dinner with Drake after their fiery postgame exchange

Following the Raptors’ Game 1 win over the Warriors, Draymond Green and Drake were spotted exchanging words before a smirking Steph Curry intervened.

Predictably, much was made of the postgame dust-up. Green was asked about it after the game, and he said that Drake had earned himself the right to trash talk to players. This all came, of course, after the NBA had reached out to the Raptors about Drake’s courtside behavior.

Despite the heated nature of their exchange, it’s important to remember that Drake and Draymond are friends. Green shared a video of himself walking around Toronto in an OVO hoodie. But that wasn’t all … he reportedly had dinner with Drake.

According to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Logan Murdock, Drake and Green had dinner on Friday night — the day after Game 1 — in a private room of the Cactus Club Cafe near Scotiabank Arena. All the trash talk and Instagram shade were nothing more than just that — two friends talking smack in the spirit of competition.

Green said via NBC Sports Bay Area:

“We was talking (expletive). And we live in a day and age where people — we live in a soft-ass world to where everything is a problem, and everything is a major issue. That’s the world we live in today, and so when someone sees people talking (expletive) to each other, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, they hate each other,’ but it’s the typical overreaction into everything that’s overreacted to in today’s day in age.”

So, no, the two don’t hate each other. Look at them — they’re friends!

That doesn’t mean that the trash talk will be stopping anytime soon — nor should it.
