Report: Draft and stash prospect Arnoldas Kulboka could sign two-way deal with Hornets

Lithuanian prospect and 2018 draft selection by the Hornets Arnoldas Kulboka could potentially be on his way to the NBA. A report from EuroHoops.net indicated that Kulboka would be leaving his current club, Bilbao in Spain, and a two-way contract with Charlotte could be a possibility.

Kulboka was selected 55th overall in 2018 and played in the Summer League for Charlotte, scoring 15 points over four games. Instead of landing with Charlotte, Kulboka returned to Europe and joined Bilbao after having played with Brose Bamberg in Germany the season prior.

Over the last two seasons, Kulboka has played with Bilbao in the Spanish ACB League with another stop in Las Vegas for the Summer League with Charlotte in-between. Last year in Spain, Kulboka averaged 8.7 points and 4.1 rebounds in 39 games, averaging 22.3 minutes per game.

Kulboka, a 23-year-old 6’10” forward, is a strong shooter from range and did showcase that with Bilbao. Last season, he shot 42.5% from range in league play on 4.6 attempts per game. In that sense, he could be an improvement for the Hornets, who lacked shooting last season.

The Hornets’ two-way contracts belonged to Grant Riller and Nate Darling. Both signed one-year deals, which opens up the possibility of Kulboka joining. However, the most likely outcome is the forward once again playing for the Hornets’ Summer League team and the two sides potentially negotiating a deal following those performances.
