Report: Dolphins hosting Teddy Bridgewater on free agent visit

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly making a last-second effort to try and sign New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, per Dianna Russini of ESPN. This update comes after it was earlier reported that Bridgewater turned down the Dolphins’ offer to remain in New Orleans, where he hopes to succeed Drew Brees as the starting quarterback later on down the road.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald downplayed the report, sticking by his established story that the Dolphins have no serious interest in pursuing Bridgewater. The quarterback Miami was also connected to, Tyrod Taylor, reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Chargers to back up Phillip Rivers for a stress-free two years. Stay tuned for something more concrete. It seems like the Dolphins are desperate to avoid starting Ryan Tannehill for another year. With a new regime in place, don’t be shocked if Miami ends up punting on 2019 altogether should they fail to sign Bridgewater.

Update: Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reported that Bridgewater arrived at the Dolphins practice facility on Wednesday afternoon. The Saints never agreed to a contract with Bridgewater, and now it’s looking less certain that they retain him. Still, it’s early. Stay tuned.
