Report: Dolphins hiring Patriots WR coach Chad O’Shea as offensive coordinator

The New England Patriots will see more than one staffer depart for the Miami Dolphins this offseason. Receivers coach Chad O’Shea will follow Brian Flores, now the Dolphins head coach, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Prior to this report, O’Shea was considered the leading candidate for the role, according to the Miami Sentinel.

O’Shea served as the Patriots’ receivers coach from 2009 to 2018. That is the only position he has held in New England with experience as a coaching assistant with the Chiefs and Vikings. He was expected to be in line for Josh McDaniels’ position as offensive coordinator, if McDaniels ever took a head coaching position. Instead, O’Shea will receive his promotion in Miami.
