The Miami Dolphins’ offseason is going to be filled with rumors and drama long before the team will have any answers on how their roster rebuild is going to come to life. And much of the buzz around the Dolphins is going to stem from breadcrumbs picked up along the way of what Miami is researching. The latest snippet surrounding the Dolphins’ quarterback search comes from Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller — who was told that Miami is doing their homework on Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert.
The blurb comes in Miller’s latest weekly column and includes the following regarding the Dolphins and the senior passer from Eugene, Oregon:
“…as for quarterback, one high-level source told me no team has done more work on Oregon’s Justin Herbert than the Dolphins.”

It’s to be expected that the Dolphins are going to thoroughly vet the quarterbacks of the 2020 NFL Draft and Dolphins fans shouldn’t be dismayed by the research being done on Herbert, even if he isn’t the popular choice at the position. Should the Dolphins ultimately decide to draft Herbert, their legwork on his evaluation will be expansive and the Dolphins will obviously feel conviction that he’s the right player for the team.
And if it doesn’t materialize? Well then we hope the team nails the rest of their picks! For now, relish in the Dolphins doing what they can to make the most educated decision possible for the team in the long-term. It is far better than the alternative, which was to simply gloss over the quarterback position for years with a questionable answer behind center. We’ll take this approach any day of the week.
