Report: Derrius Guice suffers torn meniscus; getting second opinion

An update has come out on Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice, and it appears that he has torn the meniscus in his right knee.

According to Adam Schefter, the second-year back is in Florida on Thursday getting a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews, but he outlook is not great.

In the event that Guice needs surgery, he would be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

On Sunday, against the Philadelphia Eagles, Guice played the entire game, but he gained only 18 yards on 10 carries, and did not look to have the burst that he showed in the preseason. A report came out on Monday that he was dealing with knee soreness, and coach Jay Gruden said on Wednesday that they were still getting the injury checked out.

This news is disheartening, as Guice missed his entire rookie season last year due to a torn ACL.

In the event that Guice undergoes surgery and missed up to eight weeks, Washington will once again rely on Adrian Peterson, who rushed for over 1,000 yards in Guice’s absence in 2018.
