Derrius Guice expected to miss some time after suffering knee injury on Sunday

Just what Washington Redskins fans didn’t want to hear, though it was relatively quiet that Guice suffered any injury in the first game of the season.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Guice suffered a knee injury to his non-injured knee, which he rehabbed back from an ACL tear last season. Guice injured this knee in college at LSU. He had an MRI on Monday morning, but it is yet to be determined if he will need surgery or not.

Guice had a quiet day on Sunday, rushing for 18 yards on 10 carries, and picking up 20 yards in the passing game. If he is to miss significant time for the Redskins, it will act as a very big blow to morale, as the second-year RB was poised for a breakout year after having his hyped career delayed due to injury in his rookie season.

Luckily for Washington, veteran RB Adrian Peterson stepped in last year to rush for over 1,000 yards in the absence of Guice, and he would likely be able to do something similar again this season if need be.

Let’s just hope that’s not necessary.
