Report: Derrius Guice dealing with injured hamstring

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice reportedly suffered an injury setback a few weeks ago, which is pertinent news now ahead of training camp.

The report comes from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero:

Pelissero added that Guice does not believe the hamstring is a big deal. Still, it’s another setback in a career that for all intents and purposes has yet to begin.

While “several weeks ago” is a key note from the report, it’s concerning for Guice because of the way he went down in the preseason as a rookie. He then needed multiple other surgeries while recovering.

In the interim, the Redskins will comfortably lean on the returning Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson, along with a few others. But they would preferably like to have Guice out there in a prominent role given his skill set and the need to protect a new quarterback under center.
