Report: Derrick Henry unlikely to return to Titans

If you were holding out hope that the Tennessee Titans would retain running back Derrick Henry, it might be time to give up on that.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Henry is unlikely to play for the Titans in 2024, although Fowler did note that the door “is not completely closed” on the two sides staying together.

If this is indeed it for Henry in Nashville, it was quite a run. The star back was the face of the team since exploding late in the 2018 season and is rightly considered one of the best players in franchise history.

The Titans do need another back to complement Tyjae Spears, who is going to get a bigger role in 2024, no matter what happens with Henry. The King would certainly be great for that role, but it remains to be seen if he’d be content getting less work behind the Tulane product.

Not to mention, Henry has expressed his desire to have a chance to win a Super Bowl, something the Titans won’t be able to offer him this year.

After Henry’s comments about wanting to win a Super Bowl, and with the franchise going in a new direction, the writing was on the wall that he was not long for Tennessee.

But no matter where he goes, The King will always be a Titan.
