Report: Dede Westbrook likely to play vs. Bengals, Jags to give him a pregame assessment

Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Dede Westbrook is likely to suit up for the team’s Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, they will first look to check him out in pregame warmups.

After practicing Wednesday, Westbrook missed Thursday with a shoulder injury, which caused him to surface on the injury report. He was limited on Friday and the team listed him as questionable in the game time status column.

With the Jags down one receiver due to Marqise Lee being ruled out, having a 2-4 record and facing a must-win situation, it would be huge to have Westbrook, who is currently second on the team in receiving with 26 catches, 280 yards and a touchdown to his name. He also is the team’s starting punt returner.

If Westbrook can’t go, the Jags still may be in good shape as the Bengals are winless and rank 17th against the pass, giving up an average of 241.5 passing yards per game. They will have receivers Keelan Cole and C.J. Board, who offensive coordinator John DeFilippo praise this week, ready to step into the rotation if Westbrook is sidelined.
