Report: DE/OLB Jadeveon Clowney not reporting for Texans’ offseason workouts, OTAs

As the Houston Texans start training camp, at least one Pro Bowler won’t be among the ranks.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, edge defender Jadeveon Clowney will sit out the club’s offseason workouts, organized team activities, and maybe more as there is gridlock along the road to getting his new contract.

The Texans have until July 15 to agree on a new deal with Clowney, or else the franchise tag sticks. However, it appears both sides are not even talking about a potential new deal. The former South Carolina Gamecock just turned 26 in February and would like to know where his future lies.

After another marquee defensive end in Dallas Cowboys DeMarcus Lawrence signed a new worth $21 million dollars a year on average, Jadeveon Clowney is expecting the same or even higher.

If the two sides are unable to come to an agreement, perhaps the Texans could find a partner in a trade to stockpile picks in April’s draft.
