Report: DE Allen Bailey visits with Patriots

The New England Patriots have visited with defensive end Allen Bailey, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Patriots have a need at defensive end after cutting Adrian Clayborn and letting Trey Flowers walk in free agency. Amid those departures, the Patriots acquired Michael Bennett in a trade. He will likely step in as a day one starter for New England. Past him, there’s uncertainty at the position.

Bailey played in 16 games for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018. He recorded six sacks and 38 tackles in 13 starts. The 6-foot-3, 288 pound defensive end has been in Kansas City since 2011 when they drafted him in the third round.

If he landed with New England, Bailey would join Bennett, Deatrich Wise, Keionta Davis, Derek Rivers, John Simon and Ufomba Komalu, among others. If the Patriots can’t find talent in free agency, they may need help in the draft.
