Report: Danny Amendola plans to sign with Lions

Receiver Danny Amendola intends to sign with the Detroit Lions, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini. His signing is pending a physical.

The Miami Dolphins released Amendola on Friday after one season. He finished with 59 receptions for 575 yards and a touchdown after signing a two-year, $12 million deal.

Amendola, a former Patriots receiver, will join former Patriots defense coordinator Matt Patricia, who now serves as the Lions coach. Lions general manger Bob Quinn was the director of pro scouting in New England in 2013 when the Patriots first signed Amendola. There had been mutual interest between Amendola and the Patriots, according to The Athletic. However, Amendola appears to have found a new home.

The Lions receiving group boasts Kenny Golliday and Marvin Jones. Amendola will fit nicely between the two bigger outside receivers.
