Report: Cowboys won’t have All-Pro LT Tyron Smith vs. Packers

An ankle injury suffered during Sunday night’s loss to the New Orleans Saints will keep Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith out of action in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Smith has a high ankle sprain and will miss Sunday’s visit from the Packers.

Smith, a six-time All-Pro, will be replaced at left tackle by former New England Patriots offensive tackle Cameron Fleming. He’s played in 61 career games, with 23 starts.

Smith’s expected absence is good news for the Packers and their two Smiths, Preston and Za’Darius. It’s likely Za’Darius Smith will get the majority of the one-on-one matchups against Fleming on Sunday.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been sacked only three times in four games this season, but he could be under more consistent pressure Sunday without his All-Pro left tackle available.

While the Packers have injury issues of their own going into Week 5, Smith’s injury does help balance the scales as the two NFC teams prepare for a big matchup at AT&T Stadium.
