OXNARD, Calif. _ Per a report from KFDM News in Beaumont, Texas, Nathanial Prescott, the father of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, was arrested on marijuana charges Saturday.
The elder Prescott, age 57, was stopped on Texas 87 in Orange County on Saturday afternoon. Per the report, troopers say they discovered marijuana. He posted $500 bond and was released.
It is simply another unfortunate issue added to the plate of the Cowboys quarterback who has already been dealing with the swirling controversy surrounding his unintended comments about the social justice protests during the national anthem.
To his credit, Prescott has remained singularly focused on getting ready for the upcoming season and has not let any distractions impact his play in practice and games, including the reported arrest of his father.
Owner Jerry Jones acknowledged as much on Sunday.
"I was really pleased with what he's doing," Jones said. "I've been pleased all camp. I get the benefit of what is going on off the field. I get the benefit of what goes on in the meetings, what they're trying to do and what they're getting done, his grasp of where we're trying to go with the offense, all of that. I'm really pleased. I'm really pleased with how focused and how it should be, how much he has zeroed in on the task at hand."
