Report: Cowboys' Gregory faces year ban after failing another drug test

FRISCO, Texas _ This might be the end of the road for suspended Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory.

Per a report by the NFL Network, Gregory has failed another drug test and is facing a year-long suspension by the league for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Gregory is already serving a 14-game suspension for drug use. He opened the season with a four-game suspension before having 10 games tacked on for an additional violation.

Any hopes Gregory and the Cowboys had of him joining the team at the end of the season and giving the team a boost for a playoff run have now gone up in flames with the latest failed test.

Gregory didn't report to training camp because he was getting treatment at a rehab center. He later rejoined the team and has been working out at the facility while serving his current suspension. He was eligible to return for the final two games of the season.

It's a huge disappointment to Gregory and the Cowboys, who drafted the former Nebraska star in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft despite a failed drug test at the NFL scouting combine.

Gregory promised that he had learned his lesson and would do the right thing once he got back to the Cowboys.

He has failed multiple tests since, which is offset by the fact that he has yet to record a sack in the NFL. He played 12 games as a rookie last year recording no sacks and just 11 tackles.
