Report: Cornerback Orlando Scandrick set to visit Texans

After his release from the Philadelphia Eagles, cornerback Orlando Scandrick is visiting the Houston Texans on Monday, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Scandrick spent roughly a month in Philadelphia. In 2018, he played for the Kansas City Chiefs after nine years with the Dallas Cowboys. He finished his lone season with the Chiefs with 13 pass deflections and an interception in 15 games.

Scandrick’s play has declined since leaving Dallas, but he’s still a serviceable vet capable of playing the role as a depth option and nickel defender.

The Texans enter 2019 with a rebuilt cornerback room than in years prior. Kareem Jackson and Kevin Johnson are gone. To replace them; Bradley Roby (free agent) and Lonnie Johnson (rookie). On cut-down day, Bill O’Brien brought in second-year Keion Crossen from New England.

If signed, Scandrick would likely find himself behind Roby, Johnathan Joseph, and Aaron Colvin. It would also mean the team may let go of another corner, possibly sixth-round pick Xavier Crawford.
