Report: Cornerback Orlando Scandrick’s visit with the Texans is canceled

The Houston Texans’ visit with former Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Orlando Scandrick has been canceled.

According to a report from Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Scandrick is expected to be signed by a NFL team after Week 1. That way, his contract for the season wouldn’t be guaranteed.

Scandrick spent last year with the Chiefs, where he played 15 games for the AFC West club and collected 44 combined tackles, 13 pass breakups, an interception, and a forced fumble. The former 2008 fifth-round pick from Boise State spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Philadelphia Eagles were the most recent team to employ the 5-10, 196-pound cornerback. Scandrick spent training camp with Philadelphia before the club cut him on Aug. 30 as part of their trimming to a 53-man roster by Aug. 31.

The Texans currently have Johnathan Joseph, Bradley Roby, Aaron Colvin, rookie Lonnie Johnson, Keion Crossen, Cornell Armstrong, and rookie Xavier Crawford on the roster.
