Report: Contract extension for Rigoberto Sanchez is 4 years

The Indianapolis Colts announced the contract extension of punter Rigoberto Sanchez on Tuesday, and some of the minor details have been reported.

Though the amount of the extension has yet to be reported, the Colts are giving Sanchez a crisp four-year deal, which will run the third-year punter through the 2023 season, per Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star.

Sanchez has been a revelation on special teams filling in as the successor to Pat McAfee, who has been in full support since first seeing the former show off the boot during spring workouts in 2017.

The Hawaii product played at a Pro Bowl level in 2018, and the Colts felt it necessary to reward him handsomely with the longest contract Chris Ballard has given out since his tenure began.

The Colts have been intent on re-signing their own, and Sanchez becomes the latest to get an extension.
