Report: Colts would host Bucs for 17th game in 2021

As the league prepares to usher in the new league year in two weeks, they are also planning to make some changes to the schedule, which may include a 17th regular-season game.

This plan was approved but has yet to be put in motion, which means we may not get a 17th game in 2021. However, if the league does go through with it for the upcoming regular season, the Colts would host the Super Bowl champion Bucs at Lucas Oil Stadium to round out the campaign, per Peter King of NBC Sports.

King reported in his Football Morning in America column that the Colts would play host to the Bucs, saying it would be “Tom Brady versus the team that chose Philip Rivers over him in 2020.”

Again, this is subject to change as the league may not add the 17th game to the schedule in 2021.

If it does happen, there is a chance that game would be in prime time. Assuming the Colts are fighting for a playoff spot—a fairly big assumption right now—there’s a chance the presence of Tom Brady would lead to a night game to round out the campaign.

The schedule has yet to be released and may not be until sometime in mid-April. We went through all of the opponents set to face the Colts in 2021 earlier in the offseason.
