Report: Colts ‘very interested’ in signing QB Brian Hoyer

The Indianapolis Colts are in the market for a quarterback as Jacoby Brissett is the only one on the active roster, and it appears there is some interest in veteran Brian Hoyer.

After being released by the New England Patriots at the roster cuts on Saturday, Hoyer is likely to generate some interest for teams looking for a veteran backup.

The Colts are reportedly a team that is “very interested” in signing Hoyer to be the backup for Brissett, per Dianna Russini of ESPN.

Hoyer has bounced around the league since initially signing with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2009.

Since 2012, Hoyer has been with six different teams. The 33-year-old most recently spent the last two seasons (2017–2018) as the backup quarterback to Tom Brady in New England.

With the emergence of Jarrett Stidham, Hoyer was released and is now arguably the top backup for the Colts to pursue for an option behind Brissett.
