Report: Colts trade CB Nate Hairston to Jets

The Indianapolis Colts are trading cornerback Nate Hairston to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2020 sixth-round pick, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

In a deep cornerback room competing throughout the preseason, it isn’t a surprise that general manager Chris Ballard is moving some assets before the roster cutdown on Saturday.

A Temple product, Hairston was a part of the first draft class for Ballard as a fifth-round pick. He’s played in 27 games during the first two years of his career.

Hairston was a starter for the Colts for the first half of the 2018 season before being benched during the second half of the campaign. He was competing for one of the final spots in the cornerback room throughout training camp and the preseason.

In 27 career games (11 starts), Hairston has recorded 65 tackles (51 solo), six passes defended, 2.0 sacks and one interception.
