Report: Colts to meet with Washington OT Kaleb McGary

For the first time in what seems like forever, the Indianapolis Colts don’t have a massive need to upgrade their offensive line in the upcoming draft. Still, they are going to be searching for some depth wherever they can find it.

While the starting five for the Colts is intact to begin the offseason workout program, there is still some room to add some young talent to the depths of the unit.

In their pursuit to add some depth, the Colts are reportedly bringing in Washington offensive tackle Kaleb McGary for a pre-draft visit, per Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle.

McGary will have visits and workouts with several teams, but it isn’t clear if the Colts are going to have him work out or if they are just meeting with him.

While he’s played right tackle for Washington, there is a strong chance he’s best suited to kick inside, especially given his athletic limitations and 32-inch arms.

Here’s what Lance Zierlein of NFL.com had to say about McGary:

McGary has been a right tackle his entire career, but that could change once his athletic limitations are challenged by NFL-caliber rushers. He would benefit from a move inside to guard where his strength and ability to generate movement as a run blocker would outweigh his issues with lateral quickness. McGary could find early starter’s reps at guard, but struggles with balance and keeping blocks centered could lead to early growing pains that will require a team’s patience.

The Colts are likely going to use one of their nine selections in the draft on an offensive lineman. There is even the chance two of the picks go towards the offensive line if they want to add both to the edge and the interior.

It’s tough to envision the Colts using their first-round pick on an offensive lineman, but a late Day 2 pick could certainly be in the cards for Indy.
