Report: Colts to host QB Brian Hoyer on visit

The Indianapolis Colts are searching everywhere for a viable option to back up new starter Jacoby Brissett, and it appears they will kick the tires on veteran Brian Hoyer.

After spending the last two seasons as Tom Brady’s backup with the New England Patriots, Hoyer was released from the team on Saturday when the massive roster cuts trimmed down the entire league.

With the emergence of Jarrett Stidham, Hoyer became expendable to the Patriots. This has given the Colts the opportunity to work the veteran out, per Jim Ayello of The Indianapolis Star.

It has already been reported the Colts are “very interested” in Hoyer, who hasn’t started a game since his stint with the Cleveland Browns in 2017.

As far as veterans on the market go, Hoyer is one of the top options on the market. If the Colts decide to go that route, they will get a good look at the 33-year-old.
