Report: Colts to add Press Taylor to coaching staff

The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly adding former Philadelphia Eagles pass-game coordinator Press Taylor to the coaching staff, per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

Taylor, who is the brother of Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, is likely to take on a role similar to that of Kevin Patullo, who was the Pass Game Specialist before taking on a job in Philly with their new head coach and former offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni.

With Sirianni and Patullo gone—two key minds in the Colts passing game—Taylor was expected to be a candidate to fill a role on the offensive coaching staff. With Marcus Brady now as the offensive coordinator, Taylor is likely to hold a role that deals with the passing game.

Taylor has been with the Eagles since 2013 and has held several roles in the offensive coaching staff.

  • Offensive Quality Control Coach (2013-2015)
  • Offensive Quality Control/Asst. QBs coach (2016-2017)
  • Quarterbacks coach (2018-2019)
  • Pass Game Coordinator/QBs coach (2020)

The Colts have a young coaching staff under Frank Reich and given their history of working closely together in Philly, this is a move that was somewhat expected.

The Colts are also expected to hire Scott Milanovich, who had interest as the quarterbacks coach last week.

It isn’t official what role Taylor will have, but it should have something to do with the passing game.
