Report: Colts still evaluating Carson Wentz despite earlier report

Despite an earlier report for Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that quarterback Carson Wentz won’t be opting for immediate surgery, the Indianapolis Colts may not have made a final decision on the matter.

While Rapoport’s report on Sunday suggested that the decision has already been made to rest and rehab rather than undergo surgery, Mike Chappell of Fox59 reported the team is still very much weighing their options and haven’t come to a decision yet.

“Despite an NFL Network report Sunday that Wentz plans to address a foot injury suffered during a Thursday training camp practice with “rest and rehab over the next few days’’ before deciding whether surgery is required, a source with knowledge of the situation insisted a decision hasn’t been made and could be forthcoming Monday when camp resumes at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield,” wrote Chappell.

Head coach Frank Reich is expected to return Monday to the team following his quarantine. Reich tested positive for COVID-19 before the team arrived for training camp. There is a chance he announces the decision or at least gives an update on the matter.

When Wentz initially injured his foot, Rapoport reported that Wentz wanted to try to play through the injury. The Colts sent Wentz to foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson for a second opinion before moving forward with their decision.

Hopefully, we at least get more clear information from Reich on Monday, but it’s best to stay fluid will all of the reports going around.
