Report: Colts ‘showing a lot of interest’ in OL Nate Davis

The Indianapolis Colts have one of the best offensive lines in the league returning for the 2019 season, but that’s not going to keep them from looking at depth in the upcoming NFL draft in April.

The Colts have been attending pro days across the country trying to get better looks at prospects set to enter the draft, and they reportedly have shown a lot of interest in UNC Charlotte offensive lineman Nate Davis, per Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst.

Davis, who had three good days of practice at the Senior Bowl, met separately with offensive line coaches for the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, New York Giantsand New Orleans Saints on Thursday night.

Davis presently has nine top-30 visits, and among them are the Tennessee Titans. The Indianapolis Colts are showing a lot of interest in Davis.

The Colts have their starters at both guard positions in Quenton Nelson and Mark Glowinski, who just signed a three-year extension. However, they don’t have much depth behind them on the interior.

With nine picks at their disposal in the draft, selecting a guard with the talent of Davis is something that could certainly be on the docket at the end of April.

Davis has shown to be able to work in a variety of blocking schemes, which bodes well since the Colts run both zone blocking and man blocking concepts. His arms are a little short at 33 1/8 inches, but he’d be a nice fit in the offensive line as a Day 2 pick.

It remains to be seen what will happen in the draft, but Davis is at least someone to keep an eye on during the second day.
