Report: Colts receiving trade calls

The Indianapolis Colts have added some incredible depth on both sides of the ball ever since Chris Ballard began his tenure as general manager in 2017, and it has resulted in the front office reportedly receiving trade calls from teams around the league.

Ballard has made it clear throughout his early tenure that he isn’t afraid to make a move if it best suits the roster—even if that means making a surprising move involving a veteran.

Though they aren’t actively shopping any player or position specifically, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported the Colts are receiving numerous trade calls as the final week of training camp gets underway.

There have been some notable trades by Ballard over the past two seasons around the time of roster cuts. The trade with the New England Patriots that sent wide receiver Phillip Dorsett in exchange for quarterback Jacoby Brissett has been the most notable.

There was also the one in 2018 with the Seattle Seahawks, exchanging tight end Darrell Daniels for wide receiver Marcus Johnson.

This will be a situation to watch over the next few weeks. Even if no move is made, it is interesting that other teams are reportedly eyeing the Colts’ roster depth.
