Report: Colts met with QB Nick Fitzgerald

The Indianapolis Colts were seemingly active at Mississippi State’s pro day on Wednesday as there were reports of several meetings, including with quarterback Nick Fitzgerald.

The Colts like to do research on most of the prospects, including the quarterbacks, but Fitzgerald is an interesting case because scouts had him run routes as a tight end during the pro day workout.

Representatives for Indy reportedly met with Fitzgerald Wednesday night, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

While this should go without saying, we will say it anyway. This isn’t indicative that there is something wrong with Andrew Luck. He’s healthy and enjoying a normal offseason that includes new commercials for sports drinks.

However, the Colts are still going to look at all of the prospects available, especially those that might be able to convert to the tight end position, which is an area the Colts love to experiment with.

At 6-foot-5 and 226 pounds, Fitzgerald ran a 4.64 in the 40-yard dash. He’s not considered to be a strong quarterback prospect, which is likely why scouts wanted to see him move as a skill player.

It remains to be seen if anything will come of this, but it seems the Colts at least have some interest in the former Mississippi State quarterback.
