Report: Colts made a run for LB C.J. Mosley

The Indianapolis Colts haven’t been extremely active during the initial wave of free agency, but it appears they did have some vested interest in signing linebacker C.J. Mosley.

The four-time Pro Bowler was a hot commodity once it was learned he would hit the free agent market, and the Colts were among the teams gauging the most interest.

The 27-year-old eventually signed with the New York Jets on an extremely massive deal, but the Colts reportedly made a run for him likely before the money got too high, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Mosley cashed in on a major payday with the Jets and while the Colts appeared to have real interest in him, they weren’t going to give him that much money on a five-year deal with $51 million guaranteed. That simply isn’t the way general manager Chris Ballard likes to play in free agency.

The Colts will continue to monitor the market on players they have interest in, and we now know they made a run for Mosley before he signed with the Jets.
