Report: Colts interested in signing QB Chad Kelly

The Indianapolis Colts just concluded the 2019 NFL Draft, but it seems they could have some interest in bringing in quarterback Chad Kelly to compete during the offseason.

Thought the Colts have Jacoby Brissett as the current backup to franchise figure Andrew Luck, the former is on the final year of his rookie deal and could be leaving following the 2019 season.

The Colts reportedly have shown interest in signing the former Denver Broncos quarterback in Kelly, per Tim Graham of The Athletic.

While this might be somewhat of a surprise, Stephen Holder of The Athletic confirmed that the idea of bringing in Kelly has been “percolating for a while.”

The Colts currently have three quarterbacks on the roster in Luck, Brissett and Phillip Walker, who has spent the last two seasons on and off the practice squad.

Kelly, who was selected by the Broncos with the No. 253 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He was released during the 2018 season after running into some trouble with the law.

It remains to be seen if the Colts will bring Kelly in, but it could be a development to keep an eye on if it picks up steam.
