Federal investigators have found no evidence linking Tyler Robinson, accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, to left-wing groups, despite claims from Trump and his administration.
Sources familiar with the probe indicate Robinson, 22, acted alone, motivated by Kirk's ideology being 'personally offensive'.
Bringing federal charges against Robinson is proving challenging due to factors such as him not crossing state lines and Kirk not being a federal official.
Robinson faces state charges in Utah for aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and other offences, with prosecutors pursuing the death penalty.
Following Kirk's death, Trump and his administration claimed left-wing radicalism was involved, with figures like Stephen Miller and JD Vance vowing to dismantle such 'networks'.
