The Jacksonville Jaguars staff is coming along nicely and the addition of Brian Schottenheimer isn’t the only agreement that was reported Monday. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Jags also agreed to terms with former Texas defensive coordinator Chris Ash, who will coach their secondary.
Jaguars have agreed to terms with former Rutgers head coach Chris Ash to coach the secondary, per source. Ash was a defensive coordinator for Urban Meyer at Ohio State, also former DC at Arkansas and most recently Texas.

Ash, 47, will be making his first stop in the NFL. However, he is one of the assistants on the Jags’ staff who has worked with Meyer as he served as Ohio State’s defensive backs coach from 2014-15. Afterward, he became the head coach at Rugters from 2016-19 and then found his way to Texas where he was a defensive coordinator last season.
Before joining Meyer at Ohio, Ash also made stops with a variety of other colleges as a defensive assistant like Wisconsin, Arkansas, and Iowa State.
Ash will work under Jags defensive coordinator Joe Cullen during his rookie season in the NFL. Some of the notables he will work with includes C.J. Henderson, Jarrod Wilson, Josiah Scott, and Chris Claybrooks.
