Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill leaves practice with quad bruise

Chiefs Kingdom can let out a collective sigh of relief.

During training camp practice today, Tyreek Hill suffered an injury in a collision with teammate Bashaud Breeland. It happened during team drills, and both players were going full speed. Hill left practice on the cart and was apparently done for the day after having his right leg examined by the training staff.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hill suffered a bruised quadriceps and is expected to be fine. That’s about the best news that the Chiefs could possibly hope for in this situation.

Hill is one of the most important pieces of the Chiefs offense outside of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Losing him in a meaningless training camp practice would have been a huge blow to the offense, especially after he recently returned to the team.

It’s not yet clear whether Hill will return to practice soon or if the Chiefs will keep him out and let him nurse the quad bruise for a few days. The Chiefs have an off day from training camp on Thursday, so I could see him missing a day and returning as soon as Friday. Hill will probably be asking to get out on the field as early as tomorrow, but the training staff will ultimately make the decision there.

Update:

The Chiefs confirmed after practice that it’s a quad contusion for Hill.
