It took a full week, but several of the New York Giants’ in-house free agents are finally on the move and as fate would have it, it looks like they are going to end up in the same place.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms with cornerback Antonio Hamilton, who allegedly turned down larger contracts in order to join the defending Super Bowl champions.
Although Hamilton was a liability in coverage during his two seasons with the Giants, he was a reliable special teams asset. However, with the return of Cody Core and the addition of Nate Ebner, Hamilton’s services were no longer needed in East Rutherford.
In addition to Hamilton, ESPN’s Adam Teicher reported late on Friday night that the Chiefs have also agreed to terms on a one-year contract with former Giants offensive tackle Mike Remmers.
The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with veteran offensive lineman Mike Remmers, a source told ESPN’s Adam Teicher on Friday.
The addition of Remmers gives the Chiefs some versatility for their offensive line. He could wind up starting at left guard, or he could be their swing tackle, the first reserve off the bench on either side of the line. He also could fill in at guard if needed.
A few hours prior to the ESPN report, Remmers’ agent, Brett Tessler, said any reports about his client were premature. He did not offer any additional clarification on Friday night.
Remmers, who had been coming off of back surgery, started 14 games for the Giants at right tackle in 2019 and played above expectations.
