Report: Chiefs expected to sign Tajae Sharpe to practice squad

Former Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Viking wide receiver Tajae Sharpe has reportedly latched on with the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs are expected to sign Sharpe to their practice squad after he was listed as having visited with the team on Thursday’s transactions wire. Rapoport notes that Sharpe will have to go through COVID-19 protocols before joining the team.

Sharpe spent the first four seasons of his career with the Titans, the team that drafted him in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft.

The Massachusetts product was allowed to walk in free agency this past offseason and eventually signed with the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year, $1 million deal.

However, things didn’t work out in Minnesota for Sharpe, who failed to record a catch in four games before being released on Monday.

We lobbied for the Titans to bring Sharpe back due to a lack of depth at the position that was only made worse by Adam Humphries being placed on Injured Reserve recently.

Clearly that wasn’t a direction the Titans wanted to go in, and instead Sharpe will get a chance with a Chiefs team that sports the best record in the NFL.
