Report: Chiefs brass optimistic WR Tyreek Hill will return vs. Texans

As we’ve made it through the week and are closer to the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Houston Texans, there is growing optimism at 1 Arrowhead Drive that wide receiver Tyreek Hill will be able to make his return to action.

Hill has been going through all the necessary steps in recovery and rehabilitation after suffering a sternoclavicular dislocation in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, there’s a lot of optimism from the Chiefs that this is the week Hill makes his return. However, there is a catch to Rapoport’s most recent report.

Hill still needs to undergo the scheduled imaging on his clavicle and get the go-ahead from doctors and trainers. He obviously wants to get back out on the field more than anything, but ultimately the decision is out of his hands. Rapoport likened the situation to Sam Darnold’s spleen during his recent bout with mononucleosis. How Hill feels and what he wants doesn’t matter compared to what the medical testing says in regard to the injury.

Essentially, the results of the imaging tests will be the only deciding factor in whether Hill will be able to play against the Texans. Sunday’s game lines up with the typical timeline for these types of injuries, and Hill has practiced in a limited capacity throughout the week. It’s probably why folks are optimistic about the situation. It’s important to keep in mind, though, that everyone heals differently.
