Report: Chiefs’ AFC West foes among Aaron Rodgers’ preferred trade destinations

The Kansas City Chiefs could have a new MVP quarterback in the division soon.

The 2021 NFL MVP at quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is attempting to force his way off of the Green Bay Packers. According to Mike Florio of NBC Sports’ ProFootballTalk, the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders are among Rodgers’ preferred trade destinations. He even went so far as to say that either the Broncos or Raiders are the “most likely” destinations for Rodgers.

Rodgers is reportedly unhappy because of how the previous NFL draft went, specifically the selection of QB Jordan Love and RB A.J. Dillon in the first two rounds. According to an earlier report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers are standing firm in their commitment to keeping Rodgers. They might just have to go out of their way to prove that through their actions in the 2021 NFL draft.

One reason why the Broncos might make sense is that Rodgers’ fianceeShailene Woodley, lives in Boulder, Colorado. It sounds like in general, Rodgers is targeting a west coast team for personal reasons.

From a competitive perspective, a move to the AFC West really doesn’t make much sense for Rodgers. Entering a division with Patrick Mahomes and a rising star in Chargers QB Justin Herbert hardly seems like the best move when it comes to winning football games.
